Commissioned Art FAQ

 
 
  • Pricing your Mural:

Estimates are complimentary.

To provide an accurate estimate, it would be beneficial to have specific design elements in mind. You can gather inspiration from photos, magazine clippings or Pinterest boards that depict the desired feel or color scheme. Alternatively, a detailed description of the subject matter would also be helpful. In case you are unsure of the subject matter, but have a particular emotion or feeling in mind, the design process may take longer. You can also browse through our gallery art using the provided link for additional ideas.

After measuring the area, Carol Lynn will assess if any prep work is required. This could involve utilizing a particular prep medium or surface painting. The estimated cost may include prep work, or you have the option to complete the prep work based on Carol Lynn's recommendation.

Items potentially included in pricing estimate:

  • Design time

  • Travel expenses

  • Unusual medium to prepare the surface

  • Painting before the mural is applied

  • Scaffold, ladder, or other equipment rentals

  • Acrylic paints/acrylic sealant (if required)

  • Major changes to the mural design post estimate will be at additional cost. Small changes can be accommodated.

The floor and all personal items/furniture will be covered with drop cloths (provided by Carol Lynn). Working hours are 9 am-5 pm, Monday-Friday, unless other hours are discussed and agreed upon.

  • Long Distance Estimate (greater than 50 miles from St Louis, MO):

Same as above, however, space measurements will be completed by the client, and discussion of mural concepts will occur over the phone, FaceTime, or via Zoom and email.

  • What to expect after the estimate:

Your estimate will be emailed to you, valid for 90 days.

A start date and estimated total time for the mural will be determined.

  • Necessary preparations before the mural start date:

Prep work must be completed by the start date if you are doing the work yourself.

Have all the furniture and decoration moved out of the way unless you wish the mural design to work around the piece(s).

  • Client Input:

Welcome to your commissioned artwork! We are working together to bring your imagination and desires to life. Carol Lynn will incorporate her artistic style while also valuing your input throughout the painting process. Your thoughts and inspiration are highly valued and encouraged.d.Mural after-care:

Your mural will be fully cured in three weeks. When it comes to cleaning, all you need is a damp cloth or soap and water. But be careful not to saturate the wall. With proper care, your mural will continue to bring you joy for many years to come!
